Author POV....

Life had become unusually quiet in the house. The children were away at their hostels, and the calmness was almost eerie compared to the chaos that always accompanied fifteen lively hearts.

Tanveer was sitting in his study, going through office emails, while Zara quietly read a book by the window, though her thoughts kept drifting. The knock at the door broke the silence gently, and Tanveer looked up, already sensing that this was important.

It was Tanveer’s father at the door, and behind him were Zara’s parents. Only three of them came, just as you had told me. They entered the room with calm expressions, but the seriousness in their eyes could not be hidden.

Tanveer rose politely and gestured them to sit. “Please, have a seat,” he said, and Zara gave a soft smile to her parents. For a few moments, the room was silent.

Zara’s mother began carefully, “Zara beta… we need to discuss something important about your family.” Zara nodded, listening attentively. Tanveer’s father spoke next, “You both are wonderful parents.

We are proud of what you have done for these children, but we must ask — have you considered having your own biological child?”

Zara remained calm and held Tanveer’s hand subtly. “Maa… Papa… we love these children as our own. Does having a blood child make the love any greater?”

Tanveer added, “We adopted fifteen hearts already, and they run our lives and our hearts. Is there anything missing in this love?”

Her parents looked at them thoughtfully.

“We only wish to see your own bloodline continue,” Zara’s mother said softly. Zara replied with gentle firmness, “Maa, Papa… if we ever have a child, it will only be because we want it, not because anyone demands it.

Our hearts are full already. We don’t feel any emptiness.” Tanveer added, “We understand your wish, but we cannot force ourselves. Love has already made our home

complete.” After a long pause, her father finally smiled, realizing their clarity. “Then we understand,” he said. “You are happy, and that is enough.”

Two days later, the house was no longer quiet. The moment the gate opened, the air was filled with loud shouts, laughter, and the chaos of luggage being dragged inside.

Ramya, the eldest of all children, ran straight to Zara. “Mumma!” she shouted, wrapping her arms around her mother. Zara hugged her tightly, feeling the warmth and energy of her child.

Zain, the second oldest, immediately joined in, yelling, “Mumma, your laddoos were gone! I survived the hostel only because of them!” Zara laughed and scolded him playfully.

The rest of the children followed in a storm of excitement. Zian, Bodh, Vihaan, Ivaan, Darv, Divit, and Nivan ran around the hall in different directions, carrying bags and making jokes. Navya, Pari, Iva, Juhi, Tara, and Kavira all came together, some running, some skipping, and all shouting their greetings.

Tanveer opened his arms wide. “Everyone, line up for hugs!” he commanded. The children ignored his words and attacked him together, piling onto him and laughing loudly.

Zara watched with amusement, stepping in to organize them. “Okay, okay! Calm down! First wash your hands before dinner!” she called, smiling. The children scattered like playful little tornadoes, but the excitement did not fade.

The big hall was immediately transformed into a kitchen. Zara and Tanveer began organizing the cooking for the evening. “Ramya, cut the vegetables,”

Zara instructed. Ramya grabbed a knife carefully and smiled. “Yes, Mumma!” Zain ran to wash the rice, while Bodh and Vihaan peeled onions. Ivaan stirred dal carefully, Divit helped with the roti dough, and Nivan arranged plates on the table

Even the girls helped — Pari and Kavira laid the table neatly while Juhi and Tara brought fresh water from the kitchen.

Tanveer handled the paneer while laughing at the children’s teasing. “Zian, don’t taste everything raw!” he said. “Testing quality, Dad!” Zian replied, grinning. Navya stayed near Zara, holding her hand.

“Mumma, hostel kitchens are boring. This is like a festival,” she whispered. Zara smiled and tousled her hair. The chatter, laughter, teasing, and coordination filled the hall, creating a warm, magical atmosphere that could not be replaced by anything else.

Once the food was ready, the big hall was prepared with mats for everyone. The dishes were spread across the table: dal makhni, paneer butter masala, rice, roti, and homemade gulab jamun. Ice cream was kept aside for later.

Tanveer served the food carefully, making sure everyone got a fair share. “Zain, slow down. Leave some for the others,” he said, as Zain eagerly grabbed a piece of paneer.

The children teased and laughed endlessly. Juhi threw a piece of rice at Bodh, who retaliated by nudging her plate.

Pari whispered to Iva, “Mumma remembers everything!” Zain complained, “I didn’t get enough dal!” while Ramya reminded him to eat slowly.

Navya whispered, “Mumma, this food tastes like love.” Bodh added, “Better than hostel food.” The room echoed with laughter, playful scolding, and warm conversations.

Zara and Tanveer watched carefully. Every child was given equal attention.

Nobody was ignored. They ensured plates were full, water glasses were filled, and everyone was included in the conversation.

After dessert, the children eagerly helped in cleaning Zain washed plates, Ramya wiped the table, Bodh sang songs while cleaning, and Pari danced around.

Tanveer whispered to Zara, “We didn’t adopt children. We adopted the universe.” Zara smiled softly, feeling that her heart was already complete.

After dinner, twenty small single mattresses were laid out in the big hall for the night. The children jumped from mattress to mattress, claiming their favorite spots. Tanveer gave some rules gently.

“No fighting, no stealing blankets, no pushing,” he said. The children teased him immediately, especially Zian and Bodh, who whispered, “I will steal Dad’s pillow.”

Games began. Truth and Dare, card games, and storytelling. Tanveer told childhood stories, making everyone laugh.

Zara sat with the girls, brushing hair, and listening to their chatter. Pari fell asleep on Zara’s lap while Iva whispered secrets. Zain and Vihaan played cards with Bodh and Darv.

The night passed with laughter, conversations, and occasional scolding. By the time lights were dimmed, every child had found a place on the mattress, some hugging pillows, others lying close together, all under the warm care of Zara and Tanveer.

The couple stood quietly for a while, watching fifteen little hearts sleeping peacefully. Tanveer whispered, “This is heaven.” Zara replied softly, “And heaven doesn’t need blood certificates.” Their hearts were full, and sleep finally came, surrounded by the love they had nurtured.

month passed like a festival. Mornings began with laughter, teasing, and playful arguments. Boys whispered hostel gossip, while girls shared crush stories and girly secrets.

Evenings were spent cooking together. Ramya helped Zara with vegetables, Zain helped Tanveer with rice, while Navya learned to knead dough. Juhi, Tara, and Kavira assisted with cleaning and arranging the hall.

Movie nights, indoor cricket, baking competitions, and storytelling filled their days. Sometimes Zara overheard the boys gossiping,

“Vihaan snores like an engine!” while the girls whispered, “Juhi likes someone new!” Tanveer simply smiled, listening quietly to every detail.

Laddoos were stolen, ice cream was eaten too fast, and every child laughed, teased, or cried at some point, but all were included, loved, and attended to equally.

Finally, the month ended. Bags were packed, hugs exchanged, and the bus arrived. Ramya held Zara tightly.

“Mumma, don’t be lonely.” Zara kissed her and whispered, “I can’t be lonely when fifteen hearts live inside me.” Zain hugged Tanveer and whispered advice for breakfast. The bus left, and silence returned.

That night, Zara and Tanveer sat on the balcony. “Do you think we should have our own child now?” Zara asked softly. Tanveer looked at the empty hall and then back at her.

“Our hearts already have fifteen children. We don’t want any more, and we don’t need any more,” he said. Zara nodded, feeling peace. The next d

ay, their parents came to check, and both calmly explained their decision. Their parents smiled, finally understanding.
